Existential kiosks!

The Fandangoe Discoteca and the Juicy Booth are 2 of a series of existential kiosks.
The Fandangoe Discoteca is a mini club, inviting people to shake out all intersections of grief and loss through dancing. It toured the UK and Europe from 2023, reaching over 500,000 people and being written about in over 23 languages. The piece will go to the Southbank Centre in London in July as part of its summer programme, alongside a Grief Rave opened by Linett Kamala, board director at Notting Hill Carnival and the first ever female DJ to play there in the 80's.

The second kiosk is the Juicy Booth, a sensory confessional booth to release your shame and guilty pleasures, with colour and sound mapping the emotional spectrum of each 'secret' shared or released. This opened as part of LDF 2024 as a commission by Coal Drops Yard and was listed as one of the top things to do/see at LDF by the Financial TimesWallpaper and The Times. It then went to Potsdamer Platz in Berlin where it has just finished its run.

All installations are made in collaboration with The Loss Project, meaning that every visitor can scan and download mental health resources ahead of/during/in perpetuity as a user and participant in the installation.

The kiosks exist alone and together as a meditation on the complexities of our modern existence, a space for the public to reconvene and take a minute away from the rapid fire news reels and global chaos in which we are living.

Watch this space for kiosk number 3!

As part of an ongoing collaboration with K67 Berlin, Annie Frost Nicholson and The Loss Project, we offer you a space which tackles one of the most complex human emotions: shame. Hard to pinpoint and therefore even harder to unravel, shame masks so many of our more tender inner feelings. How can we release our shame and develop skills to be vulnerable, dispelling self-loathing and ego? With lighting design by Norman Wassmuth, sound design by Kaan Bulak and interior design by About Space Berlin, Juicy Booth is a safe and anonymous space to release your innermost feelings. Our system maps your emotions with coordinates that correspond to a carefully conceived colour spectrum. Sit back and allow the soundscape and sensory lighting to take you on a cathartic journey. Afterwards, you are invited to scan and access a programme of resources to support you, curated by The Loss Project. Working with some of the best practitioners in the business to develop a public programme that both supports the visitor and gives them agency to engage at their own pace, Juicy Booth is on a mission to tackle our individual and collective shame and all its permutations.

See the press release here.
